Costa Rica wins their tenth Central American Surf Championship on December 6, 2015 in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. It's no wonder Costa Rica is crushing the competition, with incredible wave variety and an extremely supportive surfing community, they have the training grounds to learn and practice on in their own backyards and the constant encouragement from a large and growing population of surf fans from their home country and abroad. The junior team has been improving rapidly, giving teams in the ISA Junior World Cup a run for their money in October of this year and subsequently finishing in the Top 8 for the first time in that competition. A finish like that for a country with a population of less 5 million is quite a feat! Veteran surfers like Samara's own, Alex "Choco" Gomez, on the men's side, and Lisbeth Vindas, on the women's side, give some extra experience to the relatively young Costa Rican team. What the team lacks in age is definitely not in correlation with the events and championships that they have under their belts. For a full list of the 2015 Central American Championship Costa Rica team, check out their brief biographies on the Tuanix Magazine website. Congratulations to our Costa Rican champions! Men's Open Champion, Costa Rican Jason Torres, celebrates his victory with the team!
