Headquarters: Playa Sámara Just beyond those trees lies the center of Playa Sámara, Costa Rica. This is our home base: a small town with a generally uncrowded beach that curves about 7km around a beautiful bay with its very own island called "Isla Chora." Waves at base are mostly for beginners and intermediates and, because of the reef, we do not experience rip-tides. For intermediate and advanced surfers, we suggest the 1/2 day, full day, or week-long surf trips that take you to surrounding beaches or throughout the best spots along the 800 miles of Costa Rican coastline (it's not called the "rich coast" for nothing)!
We have multiple grocery stores and banks, two public schools and multiple multi-lingual private schools, fresh fruit vendors, souvenir and craft vendors, B&Bs, hostels, shops, restaurants, a gym/spa, foreign language teacher certification school, a language school for teens and adults, a massage school, bars, nightlife, and tours of all sorts (including kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, quads, zip-lining, horseback riding, sea-turtle nesting, dolphin and whale-watching, and, of course, SURFING, among others)! What we do not have are fast-food chains, or 8-lane super-highways, and we prefer it that way! |
